BACKGROUND
As a graduate of the University of Iowa, Derek found his way into the insurance industry through an internship with Allied Insurance in 2002. His insurance career has included working for a national carrier, wholesaler, and retail broker. After several advancements and relocations across the country, Derek returned to the Midwest to put down roots and grow with an exciting firm!

Relationship building is at the center of everything Derek does. No two companies are the same, so spending extra time to get to know a business is fundamental in providing sound risk management advice. Drawing upon his diverse background in the industry, Derek delivers a thoughtful approach to building risk management programs that is different than many other commercial insurance advisors.

ON THE SIDE
When not running around with his family doing various activities, Derek is interested in overall health and wellness, always experimenting with new training and healthy eating options. He also enjoys being outdoors as much as possible, most likely in his yard with landscape and gardening projects.
